Chicago

USA 2002 | 113 minutes | English | Hebrew subtitles

In Chicago of the 1920s, Roxie Hart's dream is to be a cabaret star. But before she can make it to the dance hall, she winds up in prison, after killing her lover, who vainly promised her a ticket into the entertainment business. In prison she meets Velma Kelly, her idol, who also lost patience for her boyfriend. Enter Billy Flynn, a slimy lawyer who for the right price will get the two ladies off the hook, and you are in for one sensationalist melodrama. But this sensationalist melodrama happens to have won the 2002 Oscar, and this is thanks to the brilliant adaptation from the stage version and the excellent performances by the entire cast.
